Looking for views as undecided. 999 due a track day on 1st October. Done about 700 spirited road miles since last oil/filter change. Should be about 900 mls come TD. Total mls about 7200. Previous oil (1st from previous owner) was more sludge than oil. Once TD done she won't be used much till spring. Change oil before or after TD???
What does the oil look like and what was the quality of oil you put in, if it is good I would change it after a trackday unless you are going to be mercilessly thrashing the bike. To some extent it also depends on the circuit if it is a high speed one with plenty of strain on the bike then consider changing it before.
Oil is Motul 7100 10w40 dated 12/10/15. Oil was done in March. Looks normal 700 mls oil to me, still fairly red, but darker than it looks in the picture. I will be giving her plenty of beans, but it's only my 2nd TD. It's at Bedford aerodrome.
If it was me I would change the oil after the trackday, especially if you are not going to use it after that much. You are using a decent oil. Leave it in until you get back on it for regular use and then do an oil and filter change. I used to do trackdays on my 998 and then go back to riding it on the road as per normal and did not worry about changing oil, never had a problem doing that. I now have a dedicated track bike but don't change the oil in that until I have done a few trackdays. Another option is to change the oil and not the filter if you are that concerned.
