Big tour this year so looking to fit some grilles looked at evotek on net any guys/lassies fitted them any issues Cheers Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express
I have the Evotech on my Streetfighter and would recommend them, some of the other options have niggles like coverage isn't as good, they look pants and some even use zip ties to fit which I'd prefer to avoid. Evotech seem to have a sensible approach and not too pricey. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I have the Evotech Rad Guard on my Multi 1200, had it on for over a year and no probs. Top quality in my opinion.
Lots of guys have gone for the Evotech option, not heard a bad word against them.......look good and nice quality. I have an R&G rad guard which I really like (pre Evotech offering) but for reasons unknown they've never done an oil cooler guard (weird) so I have a Mikes Grilles oil cooler guard....bit crude/simple in construction but that's no issue as the trim/edges are out of site......and the grill itself is anodised gold
Same as AndyW - R&G rad guard (the only option at the time) and a Mikes Grilles oil cooler guard in black (which I fitted some time alter after seeing a dent in the fins).
When I 1st road tested a Multi the demo bike actually had a damaged radiator from a small stone so a guard was the 1st thing on my shopping list which I picked up the same day as the bike. Back in June 2010 options were limited though so I also opted for an R&G rad guard & Mikes Grilles oil cooler & have no complaints with either. What ever you go for I would suggest doing it sooner ather than later to avoid potential damage.
How does the Evotech one fit ? The R&G one bolts onto the existing mounts which looks easier and more secure ?
Exhaust mounts?........no, the three radiator mounting points, two at the top one at the bottom. The Evotech is easy also using the two points either side of the radiator that the side 'fairing' panels fix to.... 'How to' here ;-)
The Evotech oil cooler guard is a tiny bit more 'Heath Robinson' in the fact that it requires a cable tie to secure it fully....if I remember correctly
The Evotech ones I have and no cable ties, over on Ducati.ms there is a thread about guards and one make does use cable ties which I'd avoid. Probably varies with model but on the SF, it is all bolted afaik, I'm going to double double check now
I'm pretty sure the Evotech oil cooler is held on with a zip tie, trying to recall from when I was fitting mine but can't find the instructions. It's of no issue though, the oil cooler is trapped behind the beak and can't go anywhere, the zip tie is just to stop it sliding around and isn't actually under stress. Found this instead, beginning of the 3rd post: http://www.ducati.ms/forums/44-mult...-guard-set-oil-radiator-install-part-1-a.html
postman delivered the R&G one today, and was fitted in about 10 mins, really easy to fit and did not require any bodywork removing
