Oil intake mesh filter removal

  1. Hi
I`m trying to remove this filter but it`s very very tight.
Has anyone had any problems removing it? If so, how did you do it? What tools did you use?
Up to now, I`ve only tried with a sliding T bar and a 14mm hex socket. I thought I`d ask before "upgunning" to a 6ft scaffold pole.
At this rate, I think I`ll likely pop an eyeball out before the wretched thing moves.
    Cheers.

Done it, just needed a longer bar.
It did "feel" to me like it was tighter than the 42nm the workshop manual says.
    Still, all done.

  2. Well done . Do you mean the "oil filter " underneath the engine /sump ?

  3. I had the same dilemma. Makes you think ..... "is this a left hand thread.... I hope not..."

  4. It`s the filter that fits horizontally in the right hand side of the engine, near the oil sight glass.
The oil filter cannister under the engine was just as stubborn, I failed with a filter strap so bought these:

ADJUSTABLE OIL FILTER PLIERS 12" WRENCH - HAND REMOVAL PLIER TOOL | eBay

The oil filter surrendered straight away, best £3.97 I`ve ever spent.

I`d googled how to remove the oil screen filter and nearly every result said it could be tight, some even put "tight" in capitals.
That`s the last job I`m willing to do. Next on the "to do" list is belts and maybe shim check but that`s a job for my Ducati technician.
