1200 Oil Leak From Screen Filter Cover

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by HyperMac, Mar 3, 2019.

  1. Changed oil on bike (2014 MY ) and thought I’d check filter screen.
Re-installed and now oil weep from screen cover. Removed again , re done the liquid gasket again ( correct Threebond as per Ducati spec ) and , yes , low and behold leaking again !
Everything was thoroughly cleaned and checked , bolts tightened in sequence and torqued correctly.

So can’t understand why this is happening. Has anyone else had similar problems ? I believe there is a proper gasket that available from an earlier 1098 that some people have fitted ? Advice appreciated on any of the above as its a bit soul destroying

    Cheers

  2. From my service notes:

    (1) 78810651A – Sump plate gasket. Use in lieu of sealant, or buy aftermarket O-Ring plate for ~$25

Can't say if that gasket works or not, but others are using it in lieu of the liquid gasket. About to do mine and will be using it so will know before long.

  3. Thanks for your response. I’ve googled for the aftermarket o ring plate but can’t get anything to come up ? Do you know who supplies it ?

  4. Many thanks for your help Shorten. Much appreciated
