Hi all. Big shout out to Gunz for helping me post this!!! Noticed this smoking the other day, only seems to be on a cold engine start. Appears I think only from top exhaust, but could be wrong. Bike not wet or damp etc and a decent 11c outside. Seems to be much lighter than cold start condensation. It appears about 90 seconds after starting and is pretty much gone a minute later. Bike is always kept in a heated garage and on main stand. Bike is 2013 MTS 1200 with 41000 miles. TIA and fingers crossed
yep works, jaybus mine throws out vast kettles worth of moisture from exhaust. Think it might be the cheap fuel I use.
Quite tricky to see it on this vid, but it doesn’t look very steam like , it’s not the normal thick condensation being heated , I think?
If it stops after a period then I wouldn't worry, is it getting a decent run previous to start as condensation can build over a few cold starts and look worse
Rides never less than half an hour. Yes the smoke starts at 90 secs after starting and is gone a minute or so later. Many thanks, I will sleep better now.
Condensation, nowt to worry about. Re the only on one not the other, that happens on my bikes too regardless of whether they have an exhaust valve or not, something to do with the way the gases flow through & from the link pipe. Don’t worry about it.
The Diavel, with standard cans, was terrible for blowing out what looked like “smoke” for a good few minutes on start up. It all disappeared when I put a Termignoni system on.
Hold a piece of cold glass over the exhaust whatever is coming out wil condense on the glass. Then take a look.
Thanks, yes it’s tricky to see on here, phone much better. She does sound alright, 40000 miles 90% non urban riding helps keep her clear.
