Dear All Anyone know please how to remove this 796 oil eye glass without breaking it, it's located in the wet clutch casing.. I've tried unscrewing the silver disc with the holes in but that just does a "Kylie" and keeps spinning around... Many thanks
It needs to be driven out, it is effectively an oil seal with a sight glass in the centre. I have removed a few and it's easy enough if you use a driver the right size for the seal at the back. You would be better off using a new one to replace it when you put it back as you might find it will have distorted and start to leak. I got away with reusing mine but put clear sealer around the outside edge.
Red 998 Many thanks for that I really appreciate your advice, luv your profile bike pic by the way... I guess it drves out from the inside to out? Or though it could be the other way I guess.. It's tough when no one does a workshop manual for your bike... I'm still looking for a comprehensive list of torque wrench settings for her...
It drives from the inside of the case out, if you put a socket etc. that is close in size to the inner ring pictured around the inside edge of the four holes you should be able to get it out without damaging it. Just drive it squarely out and it should be fine.
