1200 DVT Oil

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by JohnoDuc, Feb 5, 2022.

  1. What are the recommendations on engine oil? It seems Motul comes up top but what do others think?

  2. Surprised you have not been inundated with replies. If you got a dealer service today, you’d get Shell oil. Any good quality fully synthetic or even semi synthetic 10w40 or 15w50 would do the job if changed after the appropriate mileage. I use Motul 7100 in all our bikes from my Panigale V4 to a Scrambler Icon. Andy

  3. Yes I expect this topic has been covered many times. Thanks for confirm with the Motul 7100. Last time I gave the Multistrada a service I used shell.

  4. The DVT should be run on 15W/50. 7100 is my oil of choice.

  5. I use 15w 50 shell advance or mobile one ..... 300ml every few hundred miles normally, which insures a constant ongoing oil change for my DVT ;)

  6. Best recommendation. Meet spec, change regularly. Cheapest maintenance available. Brand names? I use Shell advance, sometimes Motul, Castrol, Mobil…but I change oil every 3k and filter every 6k regardless of schedule.
Oil weight to suit season.( Viscosity). If you ride all year round you might want a wider weight multi grade. Buy the one with the best stickers for your toolbox!
