Been on test ride (long one) of new Multi. Better fit and finis, smoother motor and suspension but less fun. For me the new bike feels, er...more Honda, but not in a good way. I suppose the rough edges have been smoothed and with it some of the character lost. Keeping my 2013 1200 sport for now.
Still think it's a seat of pants thing. Ie poorer fuelling gives impression of more go But only done 400 miles so far so not opened up above 6k yet
Just got back from my first ride after 600 mile service, it was the first time I was not looking at the rev counter, or throttling back. Gotta say if you think the old one is better than the new you must be in biking heaven coz this DVT is the sweetest ride, so much character, so much pull, mines a standard DVT and its a hoot bigtime. I've not ridden a pre 2015 so I cannot comment but I am more than happy with the DVT so far.
I'm not saying the new bike is anything other than a joyous machine. It's lower, better screwed together, has more gizmos but did not get my pulse racing like my 2013. It's just a bit more visceral that's all.
I have done about 1000 miles (1566KM) on the new DVT S, having previously owned a 2010 S (the Ohlins one). I have to say that the new bike handles better, runs smoother, is of better build quality and it seems to me that its overall an improved machine. Having said that, I think I agree with a few people on the forum that it is less fun. My previous Multi would go straight on a wheelie on 2nd and sometimes on 3rd gear, would feel like it had more of a punch and a bit snappier than the DVT. On the other hand, my DVT does not need the wheelie control on any gear apart from the first, feels a bit heavier and certainly less fun. I understand that there is some compromise to be made, and if one wants smoother low end you lose some grunt, but I find that the compromise on the fun side is too much for a Ducati.. Saying that, I am happy with my DVT, will certainly put a lot of miles on it and I think its a great bike!
