Olfi 4k Action Camera

  1. I know this has been mentioned in another thread http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/gopro-action-camera-which-one-and-where.42665/page-4 , but I figured talking about the olfi was deviating from the thread so I thought i'd do this separate one.

It's arrived. Looks like an excellent bit of kit. Will bung an SD card in when I get home and have a play. Got the extra case I convinced them to sell me. They stated that they will be selling extra cases in the future but not yet. They aren't selling them right now as they have a limited supply and need it in case they get faulty cases they need to replace. Top service as it arrived <24 hours after I paid (bearing in mind I asked for an extra case I was impressed the still got it out sharpish).

Will drill my spare case later too as the charger is mounted on the side of the olfi. Some of the settings look spot on. Power On/Shutdown based on USB power and auto start recording. That's excellent if you'll be leaving it on the bike to a switched source. I can just fit and forget.

Anyone have any joy with a 128Gb card (specs state 64Gb but it's rumoured 128 works fine)?

  2. 128gb worked fine for me

There's a set up video I did on my YouTube channel below. I've mostly now stuck to 2.5k 30fps.

  4. Don't worry the battery will run out long before the card is full.

  5. I'm hard wiring to the bike. I wangled an extra case from them so will be drilling a hole in the side of one of them.

  8. Sugru. Dries into a really hard rubber. Should keep the rain out no probs as the two meet to form a pretty damn good seal. [IMG]

Sod's law, in the meantime the old action cam has dried out and started working. Now relegated to rear duties. [IMG]

  9. I'm also thinking the olfi's flashing blue lights might mean traffic moves out of my way a bit pronto. Not my fault officer... speak to Olfi.

  10. My old cam vs my new Olfi. Side by side through the village.

  11. Looks pretty clear. I finally used my cheap Gopro Chinese copy on the bike yesterday held on with a suction attachment thingy. Quality pretty good but not as good as that one....

  12. I'm really impressed by the olfi. I have a 4K UHD TV in the living room and plugged the SD straight in and the quality was brilliant. I'll have no problem picking out twattish car driver's reg plates on the olfi.

Had a very near head on with a big Audi 4x4 in a traffic calming chicane that he had to give way to me on. Just pulled straight out and I had to aim for a bush. Only got a partial on the Hyundai.

  13. I predominantly use 2.5k on the Olfi now but I've been getting great footage with it. I'll have a new 1299 vid up on YT later this week with loads of onboards from it.

I've used the Olfi on a shoot professionally and it performs exactly as I need it too and I'm not out of pocket £409 like the Hero 4 Black.

  14. Changed mine to 2.5k earlier, planning a ride out to Hailsham later. Having just looked at the forecast though, I may take the car.

  15. I'll have to check what setting mine is on. Dont think it was particularly high but camera is 4K....

  16. Had a look at mine and had been using on 1080p 60fps. Changed it to the 4K but thats only 15fps. Clearer but jerkier too. The next one is 2.7K at 30 fps so will have to try that.

Used it on 4K tonight and seemed smoother despite the lower fps strangely....

  17. Do a firmware update. 4K should be 24fps

  18. Cool I'll take a look....

  19. 24 fps? That's usually used for film. 25 or 50 for uk and European video and 30 or 60 fps for USA vid.

Olfi results look good though. Look at the colour difference between the two.

Sugru, great stuff... But why orange? It isn't mounted on a KTM.

  20. 24.97fps its the cinema frame rate and the frame rate most eyes identify as looking the best. Not the best when the camera is moving or shaking though.
