Oliver's mount gold cup meeting on in a week's time. Should be a good weekend for anybody going over. I'm there for the weekend.

It's as close to pure road racing as we get on the mainland and well worth a look if you've never been.

It's been a troublesome couple of years for the new organisers with H&S issues, buildings to replace and track adjustments etc. I feared it may go into the history books as a memory but it's looking good to go.

  2. Good on em for getting back to racing at the Mount. Been loads of times since my first trip in '85 on y GSX400/4 with a couple of mates on RG250s.
its only a day trip for me, but I have camped and headed downtown on a Saturday night on many occasions too.
Racing is usually close and entertaining, especially the big bikes over the Bumps on the drop down from Mountside to Farm Bends, although I do remember it before the Farm Bends chichane too.
Not likely to get there this year, Maybe next time.

  3. Can’t get there but hope to find TV coverage.

    Great event. Glad it’s back.

  4. I had a pootle up to Scarborough 10 days ago its only 30 mins away. Had a ride around the circuit.
There are quite a few potholes in the track around the monument and the top hairpins.
If they don't fix them it will make it very realistic proper Road Racing just like what we do in the rest of the UK

  5. Well, I were up Oliver's mount for the full weekend. Great weather Friday and Saturday, Sunday turned wet mid afternoon.

Overall, a great weekend and well worth a look.

    Good points....
Great to see racing back up there.
Not too expensive if you booked advance (50 quid for Friday, Saturday and Sunday inclusive).
Good organisation with races ticked off nicely, 15 races each day.
Two strokes racing, great to see and smell.

    Bad points....
Toilets, no proper loos, only portaloos and we all know how rancid they get after day two.
I didn't camp but i didn't notice great facilities for the campers, I don't think there were showers and it's portaloos for all.
    Trade stands were threadbare.
Goodwood took most of the regular names like harrison and Johnston (but the field kept me well entertained, I'm not really complaining on that one).
Expensive if you paid on the gate (20 quid friday, 30 quid Saturday and 35 quid on Sunday), steep when you add up what you got and what you paid, bsb money without the the big teams /riders and the lack of facilities.

Overall good to be back but more investment needed to make it spot on.

Glad i made the effort and I'll be back up there next year, it's the nearest we get to pukka road racing on the mainland.

  6. That's very cheering. I had feared that it would never resume.
