Have the 1199s 9 days now and what an absolute animal she is. I've put 500 mile on her already in comparison to the 1100 mile I put on my s1000rr in a year. I just can't get enough of her, she is so much easier to handle than the s1000rr but feels so much faster to me. Was out with a couple of mates round the coast on Sunday and they couldn't believe how light she was. They also commented that I seemed to be enjoying it more than the Bmw. (I guess I just like the sheer brutality of the Ducati.) Initially I cleared off on the twisties but slowed up to let them overtake, when I realised that I couldn't see them in my mirrors because of the vibrations. I then found another problem.... I was able to take the corners faster than my friend who had always been faster than me and had to ease back to stop me running into him mid corner. Cornering is absolute bliss and I feel faster than I previously was, but at the same time very slight fluctuations in the surface seem unsettle the bike easily. The bike is an absolute dream. Roll on the nw200!
That's a great first 500 mile review!! In my first 100miles I though "oh no what have I done" ... now I love it ... 750 miles in and i can't believe how awesome it is. And unlike the s1000rr , I go and look at it every day even if I don't ride it Must admit I noticed the "light fluctuation" in cornering when I tested the dynamic suspension 1299 ... went for the normal static suspension as I preferred it.
Exactly what I've been thinking after having 2 days of riding since the running in service awesome machines
Purely guess work but check the manual regarding fork preload. You might find if its adjustable a couple of clicks either way will help said fluctuations.
