  1. Hi - seems to be the polite way to join a forum so ill chip in....

Been registered on here for a few weeks and made some posts so i thought id give you all a laugh at the same time.....

Got my second hyper last wednesday. (1100evo) i had an 1100s a couple of years ago but the draw was too much for something with fairing....i got my hands on an RSV4 factory which is a bit of a baptism of fire but what a bike...took it to the TT this year and booked up for next as well....can see myself getting rid of it its that much fun - kind of like a 1 litre rd350 with fairing....

Spin back 3 months ago or so, mate in work talks me into having a go on his r6 (absolutely pristine) - long story short - i smash it up. Im only 3rd party on it so i fall on the sword, buy it off him and loose my KTM 660 smc in th process which i loved....

I get the r6 sorted out (if anything it was better when it had left me than when i got it - pre smash). Cant shift it privately for love nor money - absolutely nothing wrong with it - friend of mine is a yamaha mechanic - gives is the once over and says its good.

After the wife negotiating a new bathroom out of me (skip turning up saturday) she agrees to let me get another bike on finance so i partex the r6 and here i am - i almost went for a ktm 690 smr but i felt that the evo was more bike for the money so i went the ducati way again. I loved the 1100s that i had but now ive managed to hang on to both....i think in the end it cost me just over 2k to drive 500yards on the r6. Most expensive go ive ever had on a bike...

So, in one way it couldnt get any worse but in the other ive got the 2 perfect extremes in my opinion....oh and another 5 years of debt...not that im bothered...i wont be the richest man in the graveyard thats for sure.

  2. Hello and welcome! Interesting story that's for sure!

  3. Dya like that.... It's never straightforward for me....

  4. no luck and how do.

  5. welcome to the forum :upyeah:

  6. What a tale! Bad luck there, I've been watching various makes for a few weeks and have has my monster advertised for a week or so with no interest. Not much seems to be shifting quickly on the Jap front, was watching a few gixxers and they aren't shifting. On the flip side good ducs seem to go quick! I bought mine without a viewing from 200 miles away as soon as I saw it on eBay, it was high summer and I knew it would go in 24hrs.
As ever it's a good time to buy but not sell, if mine goes ill sadly let it but if I end up pxing for a better bike or even having 2 then so be it...
Managed debt is fine by me rather use my money elsewhere, it's part of life these days....

  7. Yup - your telling me - shit happens. Fate I suppose...if I hadn't have had a go on it id have my KTM660 supermoto still - didn't have any plans to change it.

When I had my other 1100s I liked it but the pull of something with fairing was too much....I did use to look at it and think - "if I had a GSXR, R1 or something like that id have the 2 perfect bikes..." - for me at least...

So, ive got there in a roundabout kind of way so the end outcome is, for me, perfect.

  8. This is why my mates will never get a 'go' on my bike. It is also why I never want to have a 'go' on someone else's.

Besides my mates are hoons. Out of earshot they'd rag the bollox out of it. I'd trust them with my money and my life but not with my bikes. Never in a million years.

  9. Heh - yeah - its funny you should say that in fact my mate was talking me into it as he was taking the ignition key off the ring - my head was saying "don't, don't have a go on it - don't do it" if anything I only went on it to keep him happy....

And yes back in the day 20 years ago - let my mate have a go on my MTX125 and he flipped it....other mate dying for a go on my TDR250 - as soon as he go out of sight I could hear getting caned....holed one piston....needed a top end rebuild after that...Let another mate have a go on my GSXR 7-11 streetfighter came back with his visor missing....not great at the time....but funny to talk about now...would you trust any of this lot?
