One Head Light.

  1. I'm thinking of putting an old (R6) race bike back on the road.
I want to keep it looking as race orientated as possible. I did see an R6 years ago with one stock head light and the other side of the fairing blocked off. This would be ideal, I could have a number board background on one side, maybe....

Is this legal (one headlight) or is it day time mot only?
does it meaning altering the blub position/ beam pattern not sure how adjustable they are.

Any advice appreciated, I don't want to fit some ugly light. I rather keep to stock profiles etc. If I have to, I will run stock head lights and fairing.

It's such a shame to ditch the race parts (Harris upper fairing brackets) for stock :(
I hope the top yoke GPR steering damper will not effect where the ignition goes, grrrrr.

  2. Having just one light isn't illegal, two of my bikes only have one light as do loads of others.

You could get a light with both high and dip beams in it but even if you only have a dipped beam it should still be OK, I don't think it's a legal requirement to have a full beam...?

  3. I did see this on a R6 outside M&Ps years ago. Must have been a race fairing with one hole cut out for one standard head lamp, that's the plan anyway. I will keep the single seat unit and fit an led brake light and mini indicators, flush ones at the front.

I think it will suit what I have planned as long as I can get a normal MOT, non of this day time business - if they still do that.

  4. If you look at my avatar you will see my 748 with a single 3 1/2" headlight. I fitted that with a HID that dips. Passes MOT and the light is as good as the standard set up
