  1. Hi all
Looking at a one of these two suits Dainese Tose & Astar Mission V2, having tried on the Dainese in a 38 uk is a good fit on me. The Astar in a 38 I cant even get on, a 40 I just about got it on but was very tight and really hard getting the top half off, and a 42 fitted but was slightly loose but would allow room for the airbag jacket if I went down that road or back/chest protection. Im in two minds as I like the fit and feel and look of the Dainese but the Astar seems to have more protection and is AAA rated, the Dainese being AA. I think both have CE 1 armour surprisingly. I can get the Astar for over £100 less than the Dainese not that really matters...
Your opinions of each suit is welcome :)

  2. Personally I think the Dainese looks better, but I guess you gotta decide about looks, fitting & protection. Probably not much use to you then,

  3. If you think you’ll go down the road of a fit under air bag, buy a suit designed to accommodate the expansion of the air bag, not expect it to fit if there's a bit of room in the fit. Dainese and Alpinestars fit are poles apart but for me, the better rating is the decider. Andy

  4. Have you though about the RST (and I think Furygan) range that uses In&Motion Airbags built-in?

  5. Yeah have thought about the RST version and currently have a 2 piece but Dainese-Astar seem much nicer quality and fit but value and protection for money is hard to beat with RST. Ultimately i'm not sure i'm going airbag but will have use a back and probably a chest protector.I'll take a look at the Furygan

  7. Thanks I had looked on there and great price but they don't have my size in the Tosa unfortunately

  8. Have you considered maybe getting some made to measure? I had a one piece m2m done by 4SR and for the first time ever I have perfect fitting leathers, airbag ready and about £1100 !

  10. I had an A* suit and was great fit for everything, as I put on weight however have had to move away as the cut of hte suits no longer matches my shape.

While fit is first on the list, but have you also tried it with boots/gloves on - I found the RST suit I had was pretty bad with gloves over the cuff making it feel quite restricted, and the calf had a small fold in which got uncomfortable if out for a full session with boots on

  11. Good point ive not tried with boots or gloves, think i'll pop back to a shop and try them again with the boots etc

  12. Dainese suit is only AA rated. I wouldn’t want to rely on AA-rated clothing at motorway speed, let alone on track.

Race suits should be AAA (or higher). Dainese is taking the piss.

While I’ve no experience of DRC, I’ve always found made-to-measure massively better than off-the-peg.

Superbikefreaks’ article on leathers is a few years old but included DRC: https://www.superbikefreaks.com/leathers-part-2/

  13. Quick update guys, i decided to go for the Alpinestars Atem V4 and collecting Friday from SBS Boston got the last one. The 38 in that suit is a fair bit smaller than the Dainese 38 and is a good snug fit on me once I got the zip done up lol, its CE-2 AAA rated. PS my neighbour said its not going well with DRC so he is now looking elsewhere..

  14. All of those suits are at least 1 size too big, sorry, I know you won’t want to hear that. I was trained in a bike shop

Leather gives at least 10% so you need it tight, don’t buy it allowing space for anything other than back protector.

for comparison here’s my Alpinestar suit, with the airbag tech 5 under it, it fits perfect and still does a year later even though it’s given a little it’s not got a baggy arse etc and doesn’t bunch behind the knees or -uff out in the chest
