Got my tyres replaced today having found a slow puncture last weekend. So after a week without the 848 you can imagine my delight at riding home in sunshine, called at stadium car park to scrub tyres in, two laps.... Sorted.... Then phut phut...... Engine stops. Didn't take long to realise one of the hoses in the fuel tank had come loose. Tank was low but not empty and could see tell tale spraying in tank. So....... The bike has one of those Ducati used bike warranty policies for one year, anyone any experience of them? How they work and what is covered? Didn't have time to faff about getting recovered to the local ducati dealer 20 miles away which would have been closed by the time I got there so i pushed it to a local bloke. Which was hard. Hot. Sweaty. Caught train home, more sweating. Anything else I can expect as a known common fault with 848? It's an '09 just passed 1300 miles so nearly out of running in period. Now sat with lots of ice cold lager feeling glad I didn't part with the VFR..... as I read somewhere on here.... If you own a ducati you need 2 bikes for when the duc is at the menders......
Think your right about needing a second bike, just picked up my 1199R on the 1st Sep and it's been recovered twice so far! unreal eh?
sorted for £30+ train ticket + 2 hours riding in sunshine lost + 40 minutes riding home in rain today. Now got jubilee clips securing the hose in fuel tank which seems far more sensible.
It's just one of those things. Last year up in Scotland (44 Ducati's and 3 jap bikes) only a brand new GSXR1000 broke down. Go figure
Week a ago Friday 848 decked on slippy damp plank into shed, Sunday I find slow puncture, Monday VFR rolls off stand, Saturday fuel hose.... That's 4.... Hopefully not 3 bad things per bike otherwise I've got 2 more coming!
