Hello there, would appreciate opinions please. I'm currently looking for a bike to replace my R1 and going for something a bit different and a Panigale might be it. Having had a good look around I've just spotted one on EBAY to be honest it looks too cheap, reg,d in April '13 with only a few hundred miles on the clock, its the ABS model and the reserve is somewhere between 12 1/2 and 13k. Could it be a bargain or am I missing something. To be honest, buying a bike like this on ebay isn't something I would usually consider. ( or maybe im just behind the times a bit) Thanks for any replies.
A new ABS list is £15,700 so £13000 without the VAT. £12500 to £13000 for a second hand ABS seems on the money if a little high assuming what you have seen doesn't have a lot of miles on it. Not sure how the transfer of the remaining warranty works on a private sale. I'd look around at what some of the dealers have got and at least get a ride on something similar. There are some riders on here who prefer the 1098 and 1198 to the 1199 so if you have never ridden a big V twin superbike before, go and try a few. One thing for sure it will be totally different to the R1 whatever you choose. Andy
I chopped in my Crossplane crank R1 for an 848 Evo Corse SE. I did have my doubts art first as the 848 was more focussed. But I love it now. It turns heads too, which JIL4's never do.
I don't think you'll regret the move. There does seem to be a lot of Pani's with just running in miles on them out there, but the last time I was at my local dealer they said they were going to be getting a new one in, putting a few hundred miles on it then selling it for around 13.5k, didn't seem to make sense to me, why take a new bike worth the thick end of 16k, deliberately run it in and sell it for 2k less???. Transferring the warranty is no problem, just a case of filling a form in.
