Out And About From The Nw200...lunchtime Stop Needed..

Discussion in 'Touring' started by Dr Mark, May 4, 2015.

  1. Of to the NW200 on the Multi this Saturday with 6 others, looking forward to this.

I have mapped out a circular route from Portstewart taking in Bushmills and the Causeway to Larne-area for a lunchtime stop and then back to Portstewart via Joey's Bar..

Anyone any good suggestions for lunchtime stop in the Larne-Randalstown-Toomebridge area?

    Ta.

  2. But seriously ... I went a few years ago, saw Dunlop Jr. win after his Dad's accident. I'll have a look back at my photos and see if anything comes to mind

  3. Pub, obviously but wanted some guidance rather than randomly turning up to some darken bar..........

  4. If you had time, the Sperrins is really nice. Rural and scenic. No pubs though.

  5. The Old Thatch Inn Castledawson

  6. Hi Mark
Post up ur route and I'll see if I can help! We tend not to stop in Larne! Distillers Arms in Bushmills is good! Or Harry's Shack in Portstewart - but Larne? Eh no cant help! There's prob something decent in Cushendall or Ballycastle.

Just beware that coast road gets very busy and lots of plod on the look out for English bikers who seem to lose all idea of road manners when they visit here! You are all welcome, and by all means go fast, I do, but I've seen some numpty riding over the years - wrong side of road to pass a van into a blind corner!!! If something had come the other way we could all have got it! [emoji33] [emoji109][emoji97]

There's usually a good turn out at Millsport Ducati and Joeys in Ballymoney on the Friday bout lunchtime - decent hotdogs on offer! I hope to be there so say hi when u get over!

  7. Oh and let's pray for better weather than I got for my track day at Bishopscourt last Sunday - where it got cancelled due to too much water on track!! I had a chat to Philip McCallen and Jeremy McWilliams and concerns were voiced! It's great when the sun is out and pants when it rains!! Miserable day and unfortunately there's been too many lately! Fingerscrossed!

  8. I'll try and attach the route (not sure how) tonight. Have added the Thatch to my route. Thanks for the heads up, we won't be silly.

  9. Coast Road, no way, bloody nightmare. Yes nice coast line but it will be very busy. Lots of parking along the road, but too many nutters.

  10. Coast road must be done, surely? With the rain forecast lets hope they're all at home!

  11. Yeh, do the coast road. Its a really nice road. I never really got larne, just keep going.
I go the other side of the lough or Ballymena. Just easier, quicker for me. I think I'm heading up on the Friday and that's the way I go.
The coast road will certainly give the atmosphere of a bike event. As Lazza mentioned, Ballymoney around joeys is busy.
Northern Ireland is a small place, you won't get lost and you will fine. Didn't know the weather was to be unsettled.

  12. This is a loop i have done in past years with friends, most bikers will go up via the coast road which makes it busy, plus a lot of slow cars sightseeing, so i tend to go up via Randalstown, Portglenone, Kilrea on to Coleraine, Prtstewart or wherever you stay - in-laws live in Castlerock so i tend to visit them strangely enuf that weekend! And come back the coast road on NW weekend for the craic. Mostly, I do the other route - Randalstown, Kilrea - road is pretty empty and so better fun!!

Evoarrow - Maybe see you in Millsport on the friday?? And you too Dr Mark if you make it - and it's not raining!! I'll either be on the 916 if dry or blue KTM 640SM if rain is possible!
