Hi, anybody got practical experience of a half decent, not too dear (sub £50) motorbike cover? approx Monster M900 size. oxford aquatex seem to get mixed reviews, from burning through at exhaust, to understraps tearing off too easily. thanks, Pete
I had 2 Oxford ones on my XV950 both ripped to shreds in the storms we had last year but the Maypole one on my ZX6 stood the test http://www.maypole.ltd.uk/Maypole-Automotive/Automotive/Covers/Motorbike-Cover
thanks @Rick B even cheaper than the Oxford one, too (even after quite high postage costs). ordered via PF Jones Manchester. Pete
Ive been looking from where I got mine,, I think it may have been direct, but the first one they sent me was too small so they sent another and let me have the original ,The only thing to watch out for is its a bungee hook underneath and it could scratch a belly pan, I wrapped mine in duct tape till the wife sewn a plastic clasp off the old Oxford one we had Rick
Unless they have changed the specification in the last two years the Oxford Aquatex is one to avoid at all costs. I cover many bikes regularly and have had covers for £10 from Ebay perform better. The material degrades in the sun quickly and will tear with ease within a year. I have one new even now but would only cover a bike indoors with one after ruining 3. GTmoto make a good outside cover, it's around £55 for size Large but is a good investment.
http://www.rg-racing.com/browsetype/Bike_Covers/Ducati/Monster/BC0001/ I bought one of these for my ZZR and my Panigale but they sent me 2 of the same, took it out the bag only never been outside £25 plus P&P if your still looking for a cover !
Hi @Brom66 thanks for the offer, but had already put the order in for the maypole cover. as it is now blowing a gale and absolutely chucking it down, I can safely say the maypole cover seems to be holding steady (unlike my chiminea which has been blown over and is currently working its way to the bottom of the garden).
The R&G one I got for the MV isn't great TBH, wearing though at the seams after a year and isn't soft inside so has rubbed though the paint on the grab handle. Admittedly it's outside in all weathers and in a windy location. The architect came this afternoon with the drawings for our extension and garage. Can't be built soon enough...
