V4 Paddock Stand

  1. Hi, this might seem stupid but I have an old DP 1098 paddock stand in the garage, I've just taken delivery of my V4S and its to big (that's what she said) is there anyway I can remove the current pin for a smaller size? Or do I have to swallow a shit and buy another stand?

    I've seen R&G sell them.

    Thanks

  2. I’m still using the same SSSA rear paddock stand I bought for my 1200 Multistrada on my 1098R, my V4S and my girlfriend’s Diavel without any problems. Not sure why your stand pin does not fit as the rear axle diameters are the same. Andy

  3. Andy is spot on, the O/D of the stand should be 41.8mm and the diameter of the hub is 42mm, have you tried a little wet and dry on both to remove any crap?

  4. I did try last night and it seemed to big. I'll try again tonight. I did think it would be a straight fit as it was used on my old M1200s to.

  5. I've never had this problem

  6. Is the sprocket nut retaining clip fouling the hollow axle?

  7. Some of the early 1098's had a slightly bigger Pin/ hub and from April 2007 1098 models it was made smaller. Should be able to use a Laith to either clean up or make it a little smaller to fit.

A Ducati dealer sold me the bigger one, hence having to get this mod done. However try and clean it up 1st. If its still too big, you can buy alternative Pins on Fleabay check the sizes beforehand like this 1.

  8. The V4 rear axle is 2mm smaller on the left side. The right side is 42mm so try it on the right if your stand allows. I don't have one of those stands but surely if you remove the circlip the pin can slide out and be replaced by others of a different size?

  9. Yes I think the problem is that the stand is from one of the first 2007 1098's that were produced as samieb mentioned. I'll have a play around and try to get the pin out and order a replacement.

Thanks for your help guys :)

  10. Easy enough To do with the right tool to get the circlip off.

  11. Measure your hole and get the existing pin turned down to size
