anyone tried ebc front pads? my original ones going off and just not feeling right any more (only after 3.5k miles ) or shell i just go for brembo ones? double the price thou… ebay also full of some £30 pads for the both callipers, but they presumably are shit? i assume they are easy to change? no different from other bikes?
ordered EBC HH pads today - will change them on sat. current set is almost non-existent (brake leaver almost touching the throttle) is there any trick to changing them on pani or is it the same as other bikes? do i need to change fluid is well or would my current fluid be ok with the new pads?
EBC pads are fine. I have no idea what the chances of you getting genuine EBC pads off ebay are, though. They're a piece of piss to change anyway, so you might as well give 'em a go.
There is a trick Remove the caliper, push the pads back and using a pair of long nosed pliers remove the pads one at a time from the bottom, replacing a removed one before removing the other old one. This prevents you having to muck about with the pad retention spring which remains in place. Just because your pads are worn doesn't mean your lever would touch the throttle due to the wear on the pads being replaced with fluid from your reservoir. If your lever is touching the throttle, pad wear is not the cause, it's more likely air or moisture in the system. Good luck with the EBC. Davy
+1 on the lever touching throttle. Try bleeding the brake from top bleed nipple on the master cylinder. Have to do mine pretty regularly on the 1199.
EBC double H's are good, the pads i found closest to brembo performance are SBS fast road pads, only downside is they ain't as chunky as the brembo's, most cheap pads are false economy, if u got the money then the Brembo's are the best imo.
basically i bled the master cylinder this morning as suggested and now brakes back to normal. feel a bit of a dick now with set of new pads i don't really need. presumably they don't have sell by date and will not go off till when i actually need them?
Good call on sorting them with the bleeding, valuable lesson learnt there and some spare pads for when you need them
Sorry mate should have said earlier I thought 3.5k miles was bit low for pad wear. Just thought you might have been an aggressive rider !!!
