Hi Guys.. I'm looking to turn my gloss black 5 spoke marchessinis matt black.. Do I go spray paint or powder coat? Cheers
Powder coating is thicker and less likely to chip although if it does it can leave quite a deep mark. I have had both done in the past and powder coating is the most practical. If you spray the wheels then you would do well to lacquer them with gloss or flat lacquer depending on desired finish.
What about plasti dip spray? I heard form ta guy that done it, he says its a good job and you can peel off if you dont like it.
Another vote here for powder coating on any surface that isn't plastic or a 'finish' surface like a body panel. I'd always powder things like yokes (get battered by keys), wheels (get battered when tyres fitted / balanced), and frames.
Had my ktm engine done in this....... Low Friction Coatings - Xylan | Sandwell Shot Peening & Specialist Xylan Coatings Bloody expensive though...although the cost was mostly down to masking off....my mate swears by it but its a first time for me so I've yet to see how it holds up....going on trust here....here's it is as of last week but I've not got it back yet...
Powder coat. Lasts for ages and stands up well to tyre changes. You could also get them lacquered with powder coat. Makes them hard as nails.
Morning Any chance of a photo and name of colour? Having a pair coated soon and want to get the right "gold" Thanks
