Going to paint my forged aluminium streetfighter s wheels, There in mint condition, Just wondering if I just key the original finish will I require an etch primmer or normal primmer etc before applying the gold and finally the clear coat? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Jack
Not an option mate. Would mean posting the rims out and having the lengthy wait getting them back. Local guy just does basic colours
I get my stuff done local, never had any issues tbh. He sends stuff out to get blasted locally, size is no object. The colours are off a chart so anything is available. last thing I had done were bench ends. Also reconditioned a toolbox not long back, its in my user albums.
Not sure if they'd lacquering after powder coating... http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/...ferences-that-dictate-how-to-look-after-them/ Interesting read
I use these people as have a couple of other members on here, they have always done a good job and they have a wide range of colours including all RAL colours. http://www.ctc-powder-coating.co.uk/ I have painted Ducati wheels myself and although getting the finish is easy enough to obtain the durability is not the same as shot blasting and then powder coating. If you do want advice on how to paint and refinish your wheels I can give you details on how to do it, but even then ideally you should remove the tyres. You will need to remove wheel bearings for shot blasting and powder coating though, which you don't need to do with conventional spraying. You also need decent spraying equipment as using something like aerosol cans will not give any depth of finish unless you use a lot of them. I doubt that would then be economical.
Laquer not required providing you ask for a gloss finish, although matt and satin are also available. Top jobs and advice from Griffs Reality Motorworks in Bristol or via their website. http://www.realitymotorworks.com/
