Palmer Products - Replacement Gear Lever

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by AirCon, Apr 18, 2013.

  1. I was considering one of these. Can we all know what the issue is?

Ducati do a Billet adjustable and foldaway footpeg kit that includes pegs, gear and brake levers. It is listed in the Multi accessories. I would be interested to hear the experience of anyone that has tried this kit too.

  2. I've had a failed component replaced at my cost.

I'm in the process of returning the failed foot peg part to see what the response is.
The plastic (Nylon?) thread failed on the plastic part your foot touches failed after less than 1200 miles.
It was never struck or strained (apart from gear changes).
I've now got a Stainless Steel replacement from the same company.

The whole part looks very well made, but I'm still not happy. It has more sideways play than the standard part, but I'm not sure why. I've really lost faith in it, but I'm getting another engineer to have a look to see if it's my apathy or that there really is an issue.
Given that I've paid over £130 for the stainless steel peg and adjusters I would expect it to be perfect, but it's not.

  3. Hmm, that's interesting. I went for the steel peg and was great overall. Didn't go the full monty for the linkages and it was all good. Loved the more solid feel.

In my experience, Iain Palmer's a most helpful guy. I chose the wrong size accessories bar and he was very helpful in replacing and reinstalling it for me when I went to his place.

Contact him direct and discuss the issues. He'll be interested in your feedback and would probably help with the adjustments and fittings if you drop by.

  4. Does the Palmer lever move the position of the rubber covered part more in line with the footpegs? I'm getting leg pain from turning my foot inboard as the lever isn't in line with the peg.

  5. Peg position

Yes the peg is much larger, twice the diameter and twice the length.
It has two positions to place the lever along it's length and is much easier to adjust that the standard one (if you go for the upgraded linkage). The standard plastic lever peg failed after 1200 miles, so I cannot recommend that.
Buy the upgraded Stainless steel peg.

Come to think of it I'm really not getting on with mine, so I going to sell it.
Other people love them, may be it's just me.
Say £120 delivered, thats a saving over the web price.
St.St. linkage and Billet Peg. PM if interested.
