Oops, I guess these sort of things come up with new bikes every now and again. Hopefully nothing serious has happened to anyone due to a failure.
They all sound like pretty basic things to me so you'd think they'd have got things right by now though wouldn't you
Already had mine done, nothing to worry about, if u havent read the thread yet its in the Pani section. These recall scare-mongerings are just that, and the parts that are getting changed are nothing really serious. More an inconvenience but for me I had the bike in for the first service and all was done at the same time so it had no hardship on me
MCN must be struggling for articles......that's over a month old now. Pro active checks and modded parts rather than waiting to see failures. Every Pani is being upgraded rather than waiting to see if they do fail...... i know I'm biased, but surely a proactive campaign like that has to better than waiting to see how many ppl you can piss off with niggling failures that if do happen will cause inconvenience and maybe secondary damage. A recall campaign allows the timing to be planned with the customer so there's minimal time lost with the bike.
Yeah reported here also 2012 DUCATI PANIGALE 1199 RECALLED IN UK BY DUCATI OWING TO MANUFACTURING ISSUES The North American release brought up 5 defects whereas UK only 3 so assume we either have different tolerance or the American manufacture was slightly more flawed. Great shame BUT these little niggles will be ironed out and we will be left with a great bike. Happens to all products even if not a recall you may return to point of sale to have things sorted under warranty so i dont think this is any indication of slipping standards. I think MCN just picked up on this as Ducati now putting it out to media, i think they may have tried to contact all owners first so that they heard it from the manufacturer rather than the press.
The UK instruction picks up the 5. MCN as ever well informed Tbh, there's only 4 if it's the base model without Ohlins steering damper......
1st year of any new model will have 'issues' large or small. If i go down the 1199 route then i'll wait for the 2nd year so hopefully everything is sorted
