1199 Panel Stress Fracture & Panel Alignment

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Justatad, Sep 14, 2022.

  1. Hi all, I viewed the 1199s Tricolore few days ago, stunning bike condition wise, tasteful extras, originals supplied etc, fell in love with the bike
BUT …on closer inspection, there is a split in the top of the right hand fairing
( see pic ) also the tank panel gap isn’t equal both sides of the tank ( see pic )
Of course alarm bells rang, has it had a bump ?? …salesman called the tech lad out of the workshop , who said it does happen, it’s a stress fracture where the panel sits in the clips, is it a common fault though ?? I’m asking you chaps
I’m sure some will advise if you are not sure then walk away, but everything else is spot on, price, condition, history etc etc
Also he said the uneven gaps under the tank are due to the tank not being seated correctly after servicing
So, the salesman has got back to me today & said that the panels now line up ‘within factory tolerances’
Is it common for panels not to line up perfectly on these bikes ?
Yes I’m a fussy sod, I admit that, part of my ocd condition unfortunately
    Can you advise here guys
