Panigale 1098 To Panigale Front Wheel Disc Spacers

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by DRR117, Dec 20, 2021.

  1. Long shot but does anyone have a set of disc spacers for sale that allows you to mount a 1098 front wheel onto a Panigale?

  2. If you know all the dims I could lasercut some for you mate, as long as it works out for sheet thicknesses I keep in.

  3. Purely for my education, why is this a popular swap?
What's wrong with the original wheel?

  4. absolutely nothing wrong with the wheels. Just buying some carbon BST’s cheap that are designed to fit a 1098 so need the spacers to fit the panigale.

  5. Thanks guys, I was wondering why somebody had gone to the bother of manufacturing spacers.

Not knowing anything about the later bikes I didn't realise they had wider track forks/yokes.
So thanks for the detailed explanation Sev.

  6. My
May also be about price/availability. My reason was that a set of 1098R wheels came up at great price at the right time!

  7. I'm after a spacer kit also. I think the axle spacers are needed also, so 2 x disc spacers at 7.5mm thick, 2 x axle spacers of unknown length, plus longer disc bolts to accommodate the thicker disc + spacer. Have been unable to get through to Martin T of Taylors. Will try FE.

  8. Morning
I had the same problem trying to source spacers . Got so frustrated in the end went and bought a set of Marchesini spacers from Desmo racing off the tinterweb.
Chuffing expensive but came with everything you need . Thought I'd rather have the wheels on the bike than sat on the shelf :p

  9. Good point! Although my wheels have Supercorsa BSB's on atm, not the best for a British winter. Gives me a couple of months to source spacers before I get an itchy throttle hand!

  10. So…. I paid the handsome sum of £300 to brembo / Marchesini for the factory spacer kit after struggling to find any in the UK.

    They are amazing!

Now I’m speaking to a machinist about making a few sets up that won’t cost £300 if anyone is interested. I have no price yet on how much it’s going to cost and I suppose will come down to how many I order.

if anyone is interested, no obligation just pop a comment on and it’ll give me a ballpark figure of how many sets to have made up.

  12. Were the longer disc bolts in with the kit - they were with the set I bought last year

  13. They look canny when fitted - can't really notice them

  14. They were yeah, but I didn’t need the machinist to make some bolts :joy: bolts will be supplied with the kit of course :upyeah:

  15. Just a comment from my side as i have been using a set of these on my 1198 wheels.
due to the length of the right side wheel spacer it sometime drops out when refitting after tire changing. I ordered a set of Spider spacers that have a chamfered outer edge to see what a difference it makes.
maybe a consideration if you getting some knocked up?

  16. Cheers Nathan, yeah I run the Spider ones on my pani and was going to look at captive spacers for the kit. Nothing worse than balancing a wheel with one hand and fishing around on the floor for the spacer with the other :joy: Definitely worth an ask.
