Panigale Lower Yoke Removal

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Expat Jack, Jan 10, 2024.

  1. Hi
Can someone give me a step by step guide plus any possible issues to look out for to remove and refit the lower yoke on a standard (not electric) suspension Panigale please? Idiots guide preferably. Any special tools needed (I have a top nut tool already).
I’ve checked YouTube but nothing specific to more recent Ducati’s.

  2. One assumes it will be similar to most bikes - if so:
    Support bike off ground
Fairing off (for ease of access)
    Wheel off
    Mudguard off
Brake calipers off - oops, these would likely have been removed to get wheel out (suitably supported)
    Top yoke off
Clipons off (I tape them and brakes to the frame to support them)
Undo one leg lower yoke clamp bolt just enough to allow fork to be released (so the fork doesn't crash to the floor). Withdraw fork.
    Repeat on other side
Undo stem nut while holding bottom yoke and allow it to slide out
Remove top and bottom dust seals and bearings

    Hopefully that covers it.

  3. @RickyX that sounds too easy! Do you need to remove any dust seals and top bearings or will the steering stem just drop out with lower yoke and bearing attached? Will I need to persuade the stem to drop with a rubber mallet?
    TIA.

  4. Depends how long it has been since last removal - normally they almost fall out. Maybe a light tap with a mallet to overcome any stiction.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
