Hi Folks, I've picked up a set of s/h plastic panniers - the standard DVT type - to use on my Enduro. They've come without the little brackets that attach them to the pillion footpegs. Can anyone point me in the direction of where to get hold of a set of those? Also, annoyingly, they came without keys. I actually have a number of lock barrels that came with the bike - I believe they're supplied in case you buy the Touratech panniers (my bike is an Enduro) or top box. So in theory I could swap out the locks. Looks as though it may be possible to dismantle the panniers to get to the locks. Can anyone confirm this, and offer any tips on how to do it? So I got one of the panniers apart - literally a two minute job to undo a variety of screws. Got the lock out, but unfortunately the replacement lock barrels I have (to suit the Touratech panniers) don't fit. I could potentially modify the mechanism to suit them, but I'm a bit reluctant to do that in case the mod fails or doesn't work. Seems like the simplest option will be to get a key cut to suit the barrels.
Problem solved - the lock barrel has little tangs that stick out to prevent it from rotating. When you insert the correct key the tangs retract and allow the lock barrel to rotate. I stuck in the key for my bike and simply filed down the three (of seven) tangs which were still sticking up. Inserted the lock barrel back in to the pannier and hey presto it works! In the meantime I've ordered the pannier brackets from Moto Rapido, so that's me all sorted now.
