Hi guys love my 2010 1200 multi but feel the need for some panniers. Don't want a top box, but feel the panniers would come in dead handy and would close the big gap above back tyre. Now the thing is I don't really want to spend £700 plus for the standard panniers. So my question is do you, or have you come across any well fitted alternatives that look good on the Multi? please let me know or send in some pics.
I Use the SW Motech TRAX panniers. Having lost a standard pannier I have little faith in the plastic boxes from Ducati. The SW Motech ones are solidly fixed. The frames are removable, and you can transfer them to your next bike....once SW have the frames for it.
The top box is extremely useful and huge. You can get 2 full face helmets in the top box. The right hand pannier is not very big due to the exhaust.
hi guys well those are massive as the vicar said to the nurse. But im looking for something a little more subtle. Love the ducati panniers but the new price is around 5-600 quid. so something that looks good big enough just to get some waterproofs etc in and not to expensive. I bet some one here on the forum has found something.
If you're looking for something small, how about Hepco and Becker C-bows + bags. The racks and entry level 23ltr soft bags come to around 200 quid. The bags are semi rigid and maintain their shape. They lock onto the C-bows with a key. You have to use little luggage locks for the zips. Givi options, rack and panniers come to just under 500 quid. Kappa comes to about the same. Given how everything else requires additional racks etc, the stock panniers don't seem such a bad option. You thought have simple soft lugggae? Renntech and Oxford do full montys.
Or you could look at these. Ducati Multistrada 1200 1200s Panniers. New Sport Softbags by Krauser of Germany | eBay
I've been looking at these as a possible cheaper option to the standard ones. Anybody on here tried them?
Those Hepco & Beckers are really neat. Four bolts and the bracket is off and the bags don't look too big. Clever
Having panniers and box, I think the top box is a great option, easy to open no crawling about on the floor, plenty of room for shit and your rider lid, no issues filtering, and serves as a backrest for pillion. I leave my top box on the bike, love it. [/URL]
Currently running Touratech Zegas, had a set on a previous GSA and was impressed with the quality. Think they look pretty smart on the Multi too.
I have the SW Motech Aero panniers on mine and I really like the look of them. Funily enough I was in my local dealers last week and they are now OE on the Diavel Strada (batdged as Ducati, but with SW Motech docs and locks inside).
550 EURO? I would rather stump up the extra for the OE panniers I think and not have to have them ugly brackets on the bike! All these non OEM panniers just look totally wrong on the Multi, don't shoot me down, just my humble opinion!
I feel the oem panniers make the mutley look too much like a yammy diversion, soft and city like, IMHO, and after losing the left one I had no faith in them anymore! So thought, if I'm going to spend a fortune on boxes, then I may as well get ones that stay on, and ones that I can use on the next bike....and are tough enough to take a knock! Oh an someone mentioned brakets, well the SW frames are only on when the boxes are in use! There are small mounting brakets, but they are pretty un obstrusive
