Pannier panel removal,

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Stumacca21, Feb 8, 2014.

  1. I have had a search and can not find anything so sorry if this has been covered before,

i want to remove the coloured Panels on the panniers, so I can have them sprayed, to match my pikes peak,

I have taken the 2 screws out that hold them on from the inside of the lid, but other than trying to pry them off I can't budge them,
Is there something I have missed or is there a technique for removal?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks
    Stu

  2. I haven't tried to remove them myself but I took a look at the workshop manual and found this diagram:

It looks to me that there are no other fittings/screws to be removed so the cover must be held in place by lugs which should mean it will slide off (away from the screw fixings) with a bit of gentle persuasion? I'm sure someone on here will have already done it if you want to wait for a definitive answer though.

  4. There tiny screws on the inside on the pannier, some tucked behind the rubber seal also, remove these and the panel simply comes off

  5. Hi Stu .
I scratched my left pannier red panel badly on a Kerb when I dropped the pannier getting it off . So I tried to get the colour panel off too , undid the 2 screws but it still would not budge . I even tried to ' lever' it off , but no good and I was worried about further damage . On much closer inspection I think there is double sided tape holding it as well ? We ended up just masking it all up and painting it while it was still on.
    Good luck Mate

  6. Freak thank you, they were buried beneath the rubber and some sealant,

Is it Jon? We may know a few of the same people if it is,

    Thanks

  7. So how many screws in total do we have to find?

  8. On my ducati top box just unscrewed the four small screws for each panel and they lifted off. [IMG]

  9. There are screws hidden under the rubber seal.

  10. Sorry I thought you were referring to the top box. Side panniers. Would agree with tripletrouble

  11. There are 2 inside the lid that are visible and three smaller screws under the rubber seal
