1200 Part Ex Or Sell

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by broke, May 10, 2015.

  1. Not sure if this belongs here or on the for sale section but here goes anyway. I have a 2013 S Touring with Ilmberger front mudguard, a keyless fuel cap, top box and a Givi 20ltr tank bag with 2.5k on the clock. What I'd like to know or have some idea of is, what my bike is worth as part ex on a similar DVT, or would it be better for me to try and sell it privately. Any (sensible) thoughts on values greatly appreciated.

  2. 10k trade in tops depending on mileage

Edited as saw 2500. May be a bit more with such low miles

  3. Use eBay to see what people are asking for.
My feeling is that you'll get more from a private sale, once you find a buyer.

  4. You'll definitely get more from a private sale than you would on trade-in. Trading in is a lot easier of course. Best to find out about both; if you've got a replacement in mind go and see what they'll offer you for the Ducati. Be warned though, they'll break your heart with their first offer...

  5. Just go to a dealer and they'll give you a PX value - simple enough. You'll get more selling privately though, but the new bike means that there is likely to be a number of used Multis being traded in or sold and as a consequence prices will drop.

  6. I've had a part x offer which initially I was disappointed with, so when I got home I went on eBay to look at prices and a main dealer had a 2013 on there for £14,500 which raised my blood pressure and left me thinking I was being robbed! Anyway after sifting through other adverts my offer seemed to be on par with other second hand 2013's, I then re read the dealer 2013 advert and then I spotted the price was for a new 2013 ?
So now don't feel to bad about the offer, but still disappointed at second hand values though. Now the thing is, how easy or not are they to sell privately, how much extra could I expect and is it worth the hassle and risk ?

  7. I wouldn't bother if you've only done 2500 miles since 2013. waste of money if your just going to have it sat there.

  8. I sold my 2014 touring s , skyhook 1300 miles full termi , bike like brand new , sold it in February on eBay £13k had very little interest really but the one serious punter bought it .
There's loads of em on eBay just now , loads of folk trading up to the new one so market gets a bit flooded with used ones .
Dealer offered me £10500 against a new DVT , hope this gives you some idea where to place it

  9. Cheers Mechanico, £13k doesn't seem to bad for a bike sale in February, but still not far off a £3k knock for a year old bike.

  10. Can't polish money in the bank JC

  11. Better than a 6k knock

  12. True Bradders, true

  13. Trouble with second hand prices is supply and demand. Loads of supply and not much demand I'm afraid. Thousands o the buggers for sale.
I'd take the offer for less hassle.
