  1. Very sad but seemingly a fatal error of judgement.
Hard to say if jail was appropriate but Paul’s son seems to have asked for leniency.
The driver has shown genuine remorse and will be unlikely to drive again.

  3. yes, a grim reminder, as motorcyclists our fate may rest with the inattentive actions of others.

  4. The Inspectors dealing with my case say the prosecution rate and sentencing of fatal RTC’s is beyond ridiculous in the UK. Very very few very see a custodial sentence, and a suspended sentence to an otherwise decent member of society much a Get Out Of Jail Free card. Almost as if it’s a case of “ Ok look, you killed someone, not intentionally, but your stupid actions resulted in their death. So, we’re going to give you a suspended sentence so that if you do stupid shit like this again , you’re in big trouble”

I expect in our case nothing more than a slap on the wrist and a very short ban, while we’re left picking up the pieces for the rest of our miserable days

  5. Unfortunately that is the case here in France too. Drunk kid killed my wife's parents while driving at more than 150km/h... Suspended sentence, family members receive a check for 5k€ each...and then 20 years of trying to deal with it....:(

  7. Thank you but no need to apologise, it simply highlights just how poor the system is.

In a sad twist of fate, just last night my daughter and I were driving back from Guns N Roses gig when we were nearly involved in a very serious collision. Some chump decided cutting across the front of 60mph traffic to turn down a road and save 10 seconds was worth the risk full ABS and traction control avoidance saw is miss them by millimetres, Sadly the PTSD of recent events kicked in and what followed can only be described as a scene out of GTA . I don’t expect to hold a licence much longer and I expect I will be dealt with far more sternly with far bigger consequences that the person who killed my wife. What I can guarantee if fuck head and his mum will NEVER pull that stunt again , ever.

    oh well.. wgaf

  8. Good! I can understand your actions. I hope you don’t have to deal with nonsense afterwards.
Many drivers have no understanding what so ever of the consequences of their stupidity and the law is usually nonsense.

  9. Are there any updates, regarding the case and your own well being?
