I recently bought a full Sil Moto system for my PS and fitted just the slip on silencers yesterday even though it is a full system, will pop on the header pipes later. First thing i noticed, comes as no surprise, is the weight of the silencers i removed, Those standard black twin silencers are very heavy. The new polished aluminium Sil items are nearly half the weight and have no CAT's in them. After trying them with the db killers, today i took the bike for a spin with the db killers removed. First impressions, the sound is what i expect from any Ducati, its now booming whereas before it was SO muted. My 50 minute spin was the most enjoyable since i have had the bike. I dont know if i'm imagining it, but there seems to be so much more midrange. But there is one issue i have noticed, its not idling too well. My question is, does it need re mapping to make it idle/run cleaner, also, and i think i know the answer but i will ask anyway, is it a case of swapping a chip like my old 851 or does it need a complete remap? All advice greatly appreciated. Here are a few pics.
yes you need to change the fuelling, either using a power commander or remap your ecu. you can ride to some dealers who can dyno and make a new map to flash your ecu,or dyno and map powercommander or contact chris from this forum and send an ecu for him to flash a map that although not perfect will be near enough. if you remove ecu etc you will need to reset the tps. oh and lovely system by the way. I tend to ride with the db killers fitted.
when you fit the full system BEFORE you fire it up make sure you clean off any finger marks, oil, etc or it will stain your pipes.
Like the ones, i left on...................Doh I was in such a rush to get it out on the road and hear the pipes i completely forgot about cleaning them. Thanks for the advice about remapping, will look into it. The db killers didnt make much a difference i thought, plus i like the look of the larger aperture. Cant wait to fit the full system now that i have unboxed it, just cant find the time with work and family commitments, i have had the system for months sitting in the garage and didnt fit it until yesterday. 20 years ago, i would have been in the garage until midnight to fit it
Your bike is as good looking as your missus mate, and yes I am leering at her again, sorry, can't help it.
I wish she was my missus. Thanks, I agree the PS is a nice looking bike, riding position is a bit extreme around town, but it has plenty of punch. It's no 1098, but it does put a smile in my face, especially now that it sounds like a Duke should.
