So I may have an opportunity to buy this ex BeWiser show bike if the original buyer pulls out not a running bike, no loom or engine, no pump in the fancy tank either. Probably could be sorted with an engine, loom and a fuel pump to get it running but was always used as a display bike to allow people to have a sit on outside the hospitality. I was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on value on it? Would £12500 be too much for it? No used to buying display memorabilia type machines
Guess that depends what you want to do with it? Keep it as an ornamental piece, turn it into a track bike, turn it into a road bike? (I’m guessing the last one is out the question) Are you presuming it needs those three things or is that stated in the sale?
Don’t see the appeal myself but take the 1 away and you’d be about right IMO. A ‘show’ bike with standard road handlebar controls, a shagged and rusty chain and if those OZ’s are pukka race wheels, they’ll have come off a race bike and have too many miles for them to be safe to use. Either a dust collector or a money pit. Sorry to be really negative but PBR don’t have a reputation for philanthropy. Andy
^^^ as above. Doesn't appear to be enough special parts to be worth anywhere near that price. And no racing provenance.......
The suspension looks odd to me..... where are the adjusters etc? the Ohlins top caps on the forks look like dummies, and the rear shock adjusters look off
Cheers all, yeah saw it sat in a gargae and apparently someone is lined up to buy it. Was having a look at it and most things are blanked off / not functioning. Never been a race bike its just a collection of parts cobbled together to allow people to sit on and take photos. I wasnt sure on the price so thought id tap into the infitie wisdom of the forum and unless im reading this wrong the message is.... Dont bother Cheers all
It would be easier to get a road bike up to scratch (workable) than that. most of the bike looks stock. Swing arm is stock. No motec. it’s just a stock frame with some fairings on it and a few bits thrown on.
IIRC correctly Scott Redding’s championship winning bike sold for £110k..is this worth 10% of that? In my opinion an ex-race bike has value if; "bling" parts are present. been used by someone reasonably well known. can be used on track (at least for couple of laps per year to get an idea how a half-factory bike feels compared to a "shed" prepped one) This is neither of the above....so definitely not. Edited. Are those some plastic cylinders? Cannot understand the part with "no engine".
i remember seeing one of the show 998 factory bikes ( bayliss if i remember correctly) and the guy on the stand mentioned that there was nothing inside the motor, so just cases, barrels, heads and covers etc, maybe similar here
12.5k ? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .. a fool and his money and all that, I'd let the other buyer have it, as has been said, no provenance of any value, its an unusable bitsa from an outfit less famous than Padgetts and an MD that I wouldn't trust to park my car, let alone buy a bike off of ... !!!
