Just finished watching a review on the V4 Rally: I was thinking it would be nice if I could fit the 30 litre tank, that comes on the Rally, to my Pikes Peak. Is that completely pie in the sky, or is it vaguely feasible in an alternate reality?
Other adventure bikes use to have pumping systems to carry fuel in different sections to go into main tank. I was wondering if they'd do a 30Ltr fuel tank v4. All depends how deep your pockets go & if ducati will supply a fuel tank for a price'
I thought about this the other day, I’ve no need for the extra capacity, but it occurred to me after looking at the bikes side by side. Like most other mods, it could be done with enough time and money! You’d expect it to be the tank and cover, but the side panels are different as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole bodywork was required. When the parts list is published, you’ll know better.
Why not just fit an additional tank on the pillion seat? Take a look at the Iron Butt thread in ducatims site.
One of the reviews I saw said that the tanks are almost the same size externally, and it's just the Aluminium tank being thinner which gave most of the extra volume. Externally, they said it was only millimetres different, so this might be a possibility. I must admit, I thought about it as soon as I heard that in the video I saw. Here was the video I saw btw:
Doesn't the V4 Rally have a longer wheel base. The tank cover, tank pocket and side panels are definitely different. The tank cover alone costs £600.
