Pillion grab rail on a 748.......sacrilege??

  1. Against my better judgement and the advice of forum members I went ahead with the purchase and fitment of a pillion grab rail on my 748. You wont be at all suprised to know that it was ridiculously expensive and looks hideous!! Serves you right I hear you say, it must look as inappropriate as a beard on the Mona Lisa. Well yes it does, but at least I can keep my wife as safe and comfortable as is possible when she rides pillion. The £130 Ventura system I have used is expensive but well designed. Flip the seat unscrew 4 bolts and you've got your street-cred back!!

  2. Sometimes function has to rule over form. I recall Douglas had a Ventura grab rail on the back of his 1st 848, and I also have one on the back of my GT1000. Doesn't look quite so out of place on a GT1000, but the reassurance it provides my wife is much appreciated when she rides pillion.

  3. Who cares if it does the job :upyeah:

Although I prefer love handles rather than making the pillion reach behind their back...thats for role playing ;-)

  4. You must have strong hands Bradders? I can't feel Mrs H's love handles through her leathers when she's riding pillion!!

  5. if it makes you feel better, i once saw a Lotus Elise with tow bar.

  8. I'd have been more tempted with the pillion pal handle things. But function over form is my mantra all day long and a happy wife is worth every upset Ducati owner in the world.

  9. Just buy your better half a Ducati, I did and haven't had to put pillion handles on anything and we both run single seat covers...
