Hi all. I currently ride a 1098 but after a long battle between my head and my heart, my heart has won and I've decided to look into buying an 1199. Now it's obvious that pillions were an after thought for all Ducati superbikes but Mrs M loves to come out on the back of my 1098 from time to time. Luckily she's of slender build with a small bum and despite having long legs she tucks up remarkably well, never grumbles and is the perfect passenger and I admire her for that. I enjoy taking her out as I am more laid back and better behaved. However she's dropped the bomb shell that she draws the line at the seating arrangement on an 1199 and is refusing point blank to riding shot gun. I was wondering if anyone has had experience of riding pillion or riding with a passenger? Is it an horrendous and torturous experience? Should I just buy the bike and call her bluff at the risk of WW3 or back down and keep the 1098 for the sake of peace? Is the 1199 that much better than a 1098 anyway?. Your thoughts and opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks. Jason.
Take a look at the Comfort seat option for pillion and rider if you legs are long enough. Have recently taken delivery of my Pani with these very options. My missus took one look but still prefers Rommel's tractor - ho hum, at least I tried FWIW, did 150 miles with no pillion yesterday (Sunday) in 2 hits all on A roads and my cheek bones still suffered a touch but bearable. hope this helps
Cheers Nigelo, I'll take a look at the comfort seat. My other half would have me buying a Multistrada just because of the seat, but it's not going to happen!! Ha!
How about supergluing a pair of leather jeans to the pillion seat ? That way she can just glide in and out of them and not worry about falling off !

Those seats look the business, I'm sure her ass will be in heaven on that pillion seat, I'll have to approach the subject again tonight, now with pictures to back me up!.
I personally would have a seat re-upholstered to your spec. The pani pillion pad seems to have a crest in the centre which might look cool but doesn't fit an arse. My way of thinking is the seat support as much bum as possible, so a flat or slightly dished shape is best.
When you look and feel it in the flesh it is actually quite soft and once depressed, has no ridge - The seat that is, not the arse! hope this helps
