Pillion

  1. Can anyone advise how much the rear drops by when pillion is on. The seat height is quite Hugh for me even with low seat that jut came this morning which makes me a little worried about carrying a pillin when I come to stop. So does the height of the bike change with a pillion it enabling me to get me feet down flat

  2. Yes it will. how much exactly depends on the weight of the pillion your carrying and the set up of the rear shock.

Im not sure but I think you might be able to get a lowered seat for the Mutley, someone on here will be able to point you in the right direction

  3. thanks I bought the low seat which came this morning and its rock hard and not much lower to be honest

  4. Only carried a pillion once on a recent trip to the Alps. Had to take my mate on the back due to the miniscule ramge on a Ktm Smt, I can confirm my bike sagged somewhat, being that all I could see in my mirrors was the Tarmac about ten feet behind the bike. (My mate 6 foot 7 inch and 19 stone)

  5. My other half isn't quite that ha.

  6. Both my 2011 and the 2013 MTS dropped with a 55kg pillion on the back. I am 5' 8" and 82kg and normally have balls of feet on the road (with solo and luggage setting); with the pillion on I have heels on road as well (with pillion and luggage setting). 2013 rear spring better. In many ways makes it easier!

  7. thanks mate that's re assuring to know. Think ill stick the original seat back on and try and get a little run out with gf on the back. Hopefully will be ok as worrying a little that I've made a mistake as didnt try it with pillion just thought the the low seat would get my feet down better. It's strange as my old r1150gs I used is only 5 mm shorter and that was perfect. But most likely springs no where near as good and wil have compressed more

  8. I had R1150GS before - MTS with standard seat is much better for balance (but more expensive!) - you will be fine! Enjoy!

  9. Hopefully standard seat will be as good with pillion and I can see if dealer will take the low seat back that only came this morning and I can put the cash to use elsewhere

  10. Get out and ride the bike. It will settle a little as you run it in.

When i bought mine two months ago, i was a little concerned about the seat height. Now i don't even think about it.

  11. And, the height changes depending on which riding mode you are in so try Urban setting for the lowest to get used to first maybe.

  12. Hi been told if you have it set on sports mode the bike is slightly lower, don't know if this helps much.

  13. Really didnt know that. Tried other half sat on the bike outside on urban I think it was on normal suspension setting on normal seat and was just about do able. My concern is being able to come to a stop safely and balanced.

Will try low seat when I get chance.
