Had my 2010 MTS a couple of weeks (love it) but don't have the PIN code (there is one set). Tried to contact the previous owner, but no joy. I asked my local dealer about it and they say it will need to be booked in and cost an hours labour to re-set. God knows how much that is, but I'm guessing not cheap! Anyone have any advice/shortcuts? Cheers!
I had a feeling that might be the case. Might wait till I have a service and hope they'll throw it in. Cheers.
If you want to take a run north out Nottingham way, drop by and I'll reset it for you. Like bolds says, doesn't take 10 mins.
That's a very kind offer nelly, which I may well take you up on. Can I drop you a message when I've got chance to come up?
Doesn't really matter. It's not much of a job. 9-5 all week and 9-1 on a saturday. C&S would take a bit of planning, but could do it
Interesting, I have the same issue, previous owner ignored my requests to get info, local dealer said it could not be changed ! However local guys who look after mine have not got the right software to do it, but moto rapido said it can be done , but they are too far away for me. If this is as easy as this, I would be very interested in getting it sorted too
The factory set PIN code is the last 4 characters of the VIN number. The previous owner may not have changed it, if he did change it a new pin takes about a minute to put in with the Ducati diagnostic computer.
Yep you are right, my apologies. For both new Multistrada's I have had delivered to me, to change the PIN numbers I entered the last four digits of the VIN number first to allow me to then enter my own number. I had assumed the factory had set the first PIN code, must have been the dealer and pure arse that I used the last four digits of the VIN number. From the manual: Warning The motorcycle owner must activate (store) the PIN code; if there is already a stored PIN, contact an Authorised Ducati dealer to have the function ”reset”. To perform this procedure, the Authorised Ducati Dealer may ask you to demonstrate that you are the owner of the motorcycle.
