Place Your Bets. Can Rossi Win Another World Title?

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Dave, Nov 18, 2014.

  1. Out of season is a good time for some idle musing and rash predictions that will doubtless look stupid in hindsight!

Rossi has two more years with Yamaha including 2016 when Michelin will replace Bridgestone as the exclusive tyre supplier and a control ECU will become mandatory.

So ... do you think he can win another world title or not? Why?

I wonder what odds the bookies are giving!?!

  4. He's still a hard charger but with Marquez on a Honda I doubt it :(
But Marquez has shown his faults this season......
What could Rossi do on the Honda ?? ;)

  5. Yeah I think hes back on it:D if he can just get a good start to the season and a competitive bike from the first race.
Then I think he can start playing his mind games and start dishing out the prescriptions on a regular basis :upyeah:
Well I can live in hope

  6. Yes. He's still got the skills and the drive and is a master. Do i think he will? No... not unless MM is injured or the honda suddenly becomes unreliable.

  7. I agree with Chizel. Can only see him winning if MM stacks it and breaks a leg so is out for the season.

  8. Only if Marquez signs for Ducati....

  9. I would like to think yes he will

  10. Don't care. I'm not paying bloody BT for the privilege of watching what I used to be able to watch for free! and as for the 50 minute catch-up on ITV4 a day later! I'd rather stick matches in my eyes....

  11. I'd love him to. But he won't. :)

  12. I think he has the measure of Jorge now and they are probably regarded as equal within Yamaha. The trouble with this though is they will take points from each other. Great for race fans but not so good for a tilt at another title.
Danny is not a title contender so discount him.
Marc is clearly the big problem but the gap is not massive and Honda's advantage may not continue.I think at least half of his advantage this year is Honda.
All the newbies have potential but Vale will come out on top of those more often than not. If the newbies can sometimes win and in so doing , take points from Marc as well then another title for Vale is possible.

  13. First my opinion on this is that Ducati needs a rider capable of truly riding around it's apparent faults; someone like Stoner, and I think that Marquez could be highly competitive aboard one.
In a lot of respects it almost suits his style from the get go.
As for the Doctor, I think that he's still capable, and if he and his side of the garage can get into the groove from the start of next season we might well be witnessing him crowned as Champion again.
What I've seen from last season is that Rossi still has the hunger, and passion to ride and ride well, he certainly has the craft, lets just hope he has the machine.

  14. Peolpe bang on about stoner and someone who can 'ride around the problems' blah blah. He won the title once, with the fatstest bike and at a time when the tyres suited the bike, he lost the following year when the others caught up, a couple of fourths and then onto Honda for a sole win

Great rider, great talent, great timing!

Iannone will do some special stuff next year but will be a 3 horse race, maybe only 2, and unless yamaha change something fundamental there is only one winner
