848 Plinth For 7x5 Number Plate?

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by gcon45, Jan 1, 2016.

  1. I have a 7x5 plate for my 848 and was looking at buying an R&G tail tidy.

After removing the original plinth and wind brake, I mean, number plate I discovered that a tail tidy might be unnecessary if I could get a smaller plinth to screw on to the original bracket.

As you can see the original plinth is much too big for the 7x5 plate and I don't really want to butcher it!

    Any ideas?

  2. In France, where we have smaller number plates than the UK, there is no plinth on the back and the plate is attached directly onto the bit shown in your top picture.

  4. Thanks for the replies.
I'm undecided as to what to do as there doesn't seem to be an alternative plinth available and I don't really want to use the 3 bolt holes on the bracket to hold the plate on as the plastic bolt heads would make the reg almost unreadable.

I might make my own plinth somehow.

One other thing I forgot to ask; what's everyone's opinions on the integrated taillight (brake, tail and indicators built into the one light unit that does away with the need for rear indicators). Are they all aftermarket or do Ducati make a genuine one and if not, are there better aftermarket brands than others?
