Not sure if anyone`s interested but I`ve had such a brill day I`ve just got to share it. I entered a pre-65 road trial today, 100+ riders, 37 sections, 25 miles(according to my speedo) on and off road, had a blast. A map of the course and a few pictures: The start, riders away in pairs at 1 minute intervals. Riding one handed, picture on the move. The Beast The thing I was most pleased with was this is about the fifth trial I`ve rode since breaking my collarbone last year, the previous four events I know I`ve spent more time looking where I might end up if it all goes wrong than where I should be going and my riding has reflected this. Not today though, I think I may have got my off road mojo back at last
Wow, where was this? My dad would totally love doing that, he has a few pre 65 trials bikes especially Greeves's. Were the other riders young or old?
Hi Katie, it was just up the road from Cadwell Park. Withcall - Google Maps There are six more throughout the year. Poachers Pre 65 Trials – Northern British Bike Pre65 Trials Championship The riders ages range from early twenties up to late sixties most riders are like me, in their forties. A picture for your dad. I think the forks are wrong on this but I`m sure your dad will know.
Got the results and a few pictures for you. I lossed 19 points, finishing joint thirteenth out of thirty four in class, my best finish to date at this trial. Now for my excuses. At the second section of the day the brake linings parted company with the shoes on the back brake, I`d stripped and checked both brakes a couple of days before, no sign of imminent failure :frown:. I backed the adjuster off and rode the rest of the day trying not to use the back brake, luckily I don`t use a lot of back brake so not a massive problem. At Biscathorpe, in a section, the linings moved locking the back brake, a big handful of throttle freed them but then I`m out of control, all arms and legs trying to get up a muddy climb, the resulting "fail" wasn`t as spectacular as it could have been. Without this "5" I think I would have made the top seven-ish. Ces`t la vie! The website pictures. The guy in image eight is my mate who mot`s my bikes, I`m strutting my stuff in the background Poachers Pre 65 Trials – March 25th – Poachers Bag Another mate took these at section 22, I didn`t quite make it out. If I did it again I wouldn`t try riding across the little wooden bridge, I`d square it up and blast across the stream, its about 3 ft wide and about 18" deep, I recon I`d have made it............... Next road trial is 15th April, Chesterfield area. I last rode this one in about 2005/6, its a 40mile lap!! last time I finished on a wing and a prayer, chain tensioner hanging by a thread and running on the fumes of the fumes. Can`t wait
If you're into that sort of thing have a look at the MCC's website... The Motor Cycling Club - not that strange bunch who spend days trying to hit a ball with a stick... Classic trials : fun for all the family !
Its a while ago now but thought I`d share a few pictures from the road trial I entered middle of last April: Somewhere near Chesterfield. I lost 13 points, finished 9th out of 22 in class, I was a bit disappointed because I felt I lost some silly "dabs," a top 5 or 6 was achievable. A rare picture of me, I have BOTH feet on the pegs
  The bikes are supposed to be pre-65, this particular rider just misses that cut off date and is infact, a 1966 model. Some of the older riders have been competing nearly as long as I`ve been around, a few of them can still whoop my arse and make it look easy .
