Id like to hear what you guys think or perhaps you might have the solution but on the 796 Hyper the seat is held in place by a small bolt and washer which sits in a recess in the seat, now I beleive it's a very poor design, as I use my bike every day and in all conditions the recess in rain fills with water causing the bolt etc to rust within hours, I know some will say " well don't ride it in the rain" but I commute on mine, even when I wash the bike water traps in the recess and by the next day one unsightly rusty bolt and washer, which means taking it off again for a clean up. Other than smearing it with Vaseline I can't see a solution... Any brilliant ideas? Titanium bolt and washer perhaps!
Replace it with stainless bolt to keep it from rusting, and fit an oversize plastic washer underneath to stop water getting in. Works for me!
Ebay for pennies. I think it's an M6 x 20 but measure it to be sure. Go for a flanged button head so you don't need a separate washer, or a specific dome/fairing head if you can find one. These guys are great - use them all the time. A Bolt From The Blue, abolt-fromtheblue items in A BOLT FTB store on eBay!
