1198 Popping On Deceleration

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by BB1000, Mar 13, 2016.

  1. Popping on deceleration, i have searched but didnt find much.
Balancing the throttle bodies cured it on my aprilia rsv but never done that on the ducati.

Is there a how to anywhere?
Or would it be something else?

I have akra end cans and the ecu flashed to the correct map, 02 sensors deactivated.

Any advice guys would be appreciated cheers

  2. It could be an air leak in the exhaust, look for anything loose or cracked on the pipework, a sooty stain is usually a good indicator.

  3. Cheers, will have a look

  4. Usually associated with lean running.

  5. Thats what i read but i thought the map for race cans made it richer, maybe a tweak to the air screws is needed

  6. I have standard cans on my 848 Evo SE and SF848 and both of them do it. Personally, I think it is glorious and would be very upset if is stopped.

  7. Dude, i cant stand it lol ... i need it gone :D

  8. I love a bit of overrun pop :)

  9. Marmite sound then, you either love it or hate it lol

  10. I'm in the love it camp.
I'm sure I've seen another thread on here relating to the same thing and it was considered quite common.

  11. One of my old bikes it it occasionally...Which was ok.....If it did it all the time I'd want it gone!

  12. I have 3 Ducs 848 SF, 848 Evo SE and an 1199s they all do it so I don't think its an air leak in the exhaust, I think you will find its a Ducati trait.
Oh and I love it, the 1199 dont so much pop but more of a bang sound you should see the look on peoples faces :D

  14. But my vtwin aprilia didn't do it lol

  15. It's often to do with 'air bleed' type systems, if it's a panigale it opens throttle valve to reduce engine braking, may result in the overrun pop. Do you wear ear plugs?

Btw, don't buy a triumph ever! The daytona used to sound like a firework going off on the over run, glorious sound!!!! But they do use an air bleed system to reduce engine braking

  16. wish mine did it :disrelieved:

  17. Does anybody here play Titanfall on the Xbox One? All my Ducati's have popped when slowing down but the 1198 sounds just like a Titan being dropped in. I love it!

  20. My recently acquired 1198 is sporting Zard and cans and sounds glorious on the overrun / engine breaking, the popping and barking is second to none :) My 98 GSXR also does it but doesn't quite match Dennis for ultimate rolling thunder sound and in helmit grin lol...

What's more is everyone seems to love it in my village too! Admiring looks and nods of approval from adults and cheers of joy from children, satisfying in itself.
