Hi everyone, going to look at a 09 1198s as a possible addition to the fleet. Intensive service history with 6k miles on. Any pointers what to look for, was initially looking for an early 1199 but think this might be a better option. Thanks for any input
Belts. Check it starts well or could be sprag clutch issues. Charging - reg/rec. Cracked speedo glass. Otherwise, standard stuff. C+S, tyres, brake pads etc.
it's a pain but also worth checking central lock-stop is intact as not only is it easily distorted or damaged but good indicator to see if previously stolen or gone "down the road".
Ohlins fork seals are common on all. My 1098 has lunched a sprag clutch (exact start cables helped the starting immensely), and a shift return spring. The shift spring is cheap but can end up as shrapnel in bad areas.
That's a hell of a sweet bike! Congrats mate, and enjoy. Are you going to go for after market pipes of some variety or another?
