1260 Possible Sat Nav Solutions 1260s

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Bobmg, Jul 2, 2018.

  1. Hi all,

I have just purchased a new 1260S, I am looking at various options to fit my Sat Nav Zumo 595.

As there is no supply on genuine Ducati brackets or the Navihaulter ones, I have researched other options.

What I think maybe a possible option is the Givi FB7408 upper fairing bracket combined with SW-MOTECH GPS mount for crossbar Ø 10/12 mm.

The Givi part FB7408 is only listed for the 1200S up to 2017, my question is will it fit the 1260S, as well as anyone else, had success with these parts/combination.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Regards Michael.

  2. It uses the two mounting points for the top of the screen and a clamp onto the screen height adjuster. Its not vibration free as its on a motorbike but it's as good as the instrument cluster if that makes sense. I use it with a garmin 590 and unlike the ducati brackets which are specific to the ducati sat nav this bracket has a mounting plate which accomodates various units. The mounting position is central just above the instrument cluster so easy to see. There is a pic of mine in one of the other threads i just cant find it just now.

Oh and no drilling or cutting

  3. I think none of the mounts are totally vibration free as the are attached to the upper moveable part of the fairing. I use the original Ducati mount but fabricated a new mounting plate for it. Works a charm

  4. Congrats!

This fits the 1260 perfectly, no drilling just remove the screen and fit it:

Edit: Sorry, didn't read the "no supply" comment. Try googling the part number :)

  5. Just on other advice. If you have the 595 it wont fit the ducati mount as the ducati sat nav is the 395 which has different mounting holes

  6. Not sure where you've checked, but I'm sure I've read the Ducati one is back in supply, (I could be wrong and I usually am)

  7. I would suggest looking at the Palmers Products screen mount + 19mm - 3/4" cross-bar. When fitted this provides a great range of adjustment and a really stable sat-nav mounting position.
Not vibration free, but as I see the situation, nothing will ever be, as the entire screen, adjuster, etc, all vibrate to some extent anyway.

If interested I can take a photo or two to show you how I've set mine up and I've definitely previously been a Navi-Halter style convert, but this set-up has changed my thinking.

I do know that Riders in Bridgewater are shortly due 6No Ducati mounts into stock, as I did have one on order and was only recently offered it by Stuart, after I'd opted for the Palmers fitting. We left it that if I didn't get on with the Palmers stuff, I could have the Ducati item.

I called Stuart last week to turn him down on this item, preferring to keep the Palmers fitting.

Over to you, but one final thing to point out, the PP is around £120, whereas the Ducati item is about £50 less!

  10. Another option is a ram ball mount. I think RAM-8 or something like that. It replaces on of the four bolts (your choice on the handlebar clap with a RAM ball top. You can then fit the Garmin cradle which came with the unit directly on it. Although I would get the longer arm. Because of the shorter leverage, there are less vibrations. Does block the view of the dash a little. I set mine to be in portrait mode and it just obscures the cruise control light. Also bashes the tank bag at full lock. But otherwise a relatively simple fit.

  11. Hi Tony

I've seen the PP bar and wondered if its possible to fit as a stand alone item or it must have the screen adjuster? Personally I think the adjuster doesn't look great so would not be fitting that part to my DVT especially as I'm about to fit a Puig low screen.

    Thanks - Ben
