Hi All, Got a bit of a hit from the back on hyper. Damage is devided in to two parts: 1. Need to change to be road worthy - Right site rear set - Bars - Bar Clamps - Right indicator/hand guard - Right Mirror 2. Cosmetic Crash bungs right tank cover right engine cover slip-on decat pipe brake lever Now issue is it was a instance of road rage, guy rear ended me to knock me off, then when I tried to stop him riding away he back away from bike, crashed in to an ambulance, almost run me over and spun the bike one more time around. I do not want to claim on my insurance unless 3rd party is found and admits liability. Purely because I will pay that and then some in premiums if I use my insurance. I can do fix myself as 90% of it is remove part and put new one on. My insurance company says I cannot do repair on my own as then 3rd party will not accept it and will not pay as they did not have time to send their assessor. Is that correct, could they refuse to pay out even if I had a Ducati assessment made? I would need to send the bike away for up to 3 months which I do not want to do cause its summer (ish) but also Ducati standing 3 months is not a good Ducati anymore as it will start rusting and rotting. Can I get a independent assessor, Ducati dealer, to do damage assessment then repair the road worthy bits and wait for rest? Have plenty of photos. __________________
There is clearly a lesson here, do not engage in road-rage. However guilt the other driver is of been a twat. You risked been hospitalized for making a point??!? The trouble with people been hard-fucking-cunts is that you will eventually meet someone who is psychotic & doesn't care how big or scary you think you are. They will use a vehicle to kill you & when all is said and done. Society usually will blame the biker believe it or not. Show us some images of the damage-porn. You've informed your insurance company & should be requesting police use local CCTV footage (as quickly as possible) to locate the driver & vehicle involved. Having a bike assessed for damage is one thing but you cannot expect to gain £3k if you do the job yourself as you only require the replacement parts. You're own time in fixing the bike cannot be billed for unless you are doing it through a business. Next time; stop allow the eejit to drive off & wait 1-2 minutes & continue your journey. Speeding past someone & giving them a hand gesture is what I instictively feel might of happened only adds fuel too someone on the brink of a mental breakdown.
GunZenBomZ get facts then moan. He was in road rage cause I was doing 30 in 30 and he wanted to overtake me. So when road started widening up he went on my right less then 0.5m away and did not pass stayed there knowing full well I have no space. Then when I did go on the other side of cars to avoid him he mussed have gotten more pissed off that I went ahead again and rammed me from outside lane in. Also not interested in earning 3k, do not want bike off road for 2-3 months while they search for the fecker. Only reason I ask is cause I do not want to wait. Finally quote is a quote if they agree to pay a quote and I am happy with that quote they have no right to care what happens next. But you already have an opinion.
Unless you have his reg. no. or name your insurance company will treat it as a your fault claim and will up your next premium. But they will not allow you to do the repairs and be recompensed.
I have reg details, more worried him not having insurance. Hence hesitation to claim on mine as if it is not possible to claim self repair will be cheaper
Ok Lucas..... seeing as you a good Buddy we shall start a fund to mend your bike. I'll put the first 10P in. See I told you I was generous Guy.
I am probably going to regret posting this, you need to immediately get on and report the accident to your insurance company Lucasz regardless of whether the car driver was insured or not. Was it an official ambulance behind you that was involved? If it was, then it should make things easier. I hope you exchanged details with them, and don't forget they will submit accident details including your registration so it's only a matter of time before your insurance gets involved anyway. Just for a change, it's time to go with the flow and hope everything works out fairly instead of deciding to fight the system (again).
Actually when I first read your post I thought you had road rage Your first paragraph led me to that conclusion
At which point in that paragraph? When I said it was an instance of road rage and did not provide any details? Was it at the part where I said guy rear ended me or that I tired to stop him riding away, maybe part where I said he hit ambulance when backing away? Sorry Ducbird but you read what you wanted to read and now saying it is down to my initial post. No assumptions please
