1260 Powder Coated Wheels/color Change

  1. the rear hugger/mud guard decided to do a murder suicide trip on the rear wheel, on my most recent ride up CA 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) from Santa Barbara to the San Francisco Bay Area, and add some not so cool "pin stripping" on the left side of the rear wheel. (first photo)

so, decided that was a message to change the color of thew stock gold painted wheels, to a Porsche silver powder coat finish.

i really like how the wheels turned out.

US$270.00 for both wheels at my local powder coating house.

  2. Looks a good choice John. Goes well with the white paintwork.
Made an opportunity out of a unfortunate incident. Well done

  3. the karma part of it: my Ducati Ever Red extended warranty refused to cover the cost of replacing the wheel ... well, at first they advised my dealer that they would ... then they said the would only cover painting the rear wheel, then they finally came back with "feck off, we are not covering the damage at all".

and here's the karma part: while i had the Multi up on stands with the wheels off to the powder coater's, the right fork started leaking. i called up my service writer at the dealership, she contacted Ever red, and they approved a complete fork rebuild. so, US$1,800.00+ saved ;-)

  4. The wheels and the bike look very good indeed. The Ducati warranty response is inconsistent with what the policy should cover and in reality they ought to have dealt with the problems without hesitation. Good result on the fork seal though as that is a real irritation and a costly one too!

A real shame about the state of your garage though, what a mess! Come on John you're letting the side down, get it sorted will you.......o_O:astonished:
A positive on getting the bins into the shot though, that will please Ducbird no end.:upyeah:

  5. I’ve occasionally wonder what a white bike with red wheels would look like (but I usually come to my senses).
