Afternoon all. Shot blasting and powder coating. Best to take to a specialist of bikes or is my local blaster/coater ok? Thx
If you are having wheels done then you really should use a specialist as some wheels become more porous and\or pitted after shotblasting them and these need to be dealt with properly. I use these people who do all my frames and wheels along with any other specialist work I need. Other members on here use them as well. They are always busy and turnaround time is about three to four weeks quite often, CTC Powder Coating |
For my car wheels I use a firm in Uxbridge, just off the A40. £50 per wheel, includes removal of tyre, shot blast, paint/power coat, refit tyre and balance. Uber busy, normally £100 a wheel, but they think I'm trade rather than just shit at parking
TPCS in Melksham. Steve is a small enterprise and whilst specialising in magnesium alloy wheels, he will powder coat anything that fits his equipment. He will dip, silica powder clean, carry out surface crack detection and passivate prior to coating or if you prefer, wet paint. He is happy to post but it is always a treat to visit his workshop just to see what he is currently woking on. Oh yes almost forgot, he prefers the wheel bearings need to be removed. Andy
It's been a while since I spoke with Steve so I'm not going to even guess although he was not the cheapest because not everyone does the full monty as part of the service they offer. If I remember correctly for my Marchesini mag alloys, the front was £80 and the single sided rear was £120. He'll be doing 2 sets of NC29 wheels in Repsol orange for me once I can get off my arse and email him. He tends to start work (very) early and finish in the workshop around 1 or 2 o'clock. Best to email him from the contact page on his website and expect a reply in the evening. Andy
Indeed. Steve T has a little sports car with a Honda Fireblade engine. He has powder coated the four wheels, the wings and body panels in different colours, harlequin style.
This company have done all the p/coating on my KH project, found them good to work with and good results.
Depends how good yr local chaps are. Mine will treat your wheels the same as garden gate or digger bucket! My stuff all goes to TPCS, he has prices on his website, should give you an idea. I'm local(ish) so drop my stuff off at his house...
