Power Commander On 749s 2003

  1. Hi everyone,

I have got a power commander PcIII for my bike, got it from Ebay used unit.

Just in case I logged in and put the "standard" Dynojet map on it for my bike, with Termi slip-on and original filters and the thing just didn't run, well did but misfiring and not idling. So I put the original map, or lets say no tune and still the same. Disconnect it and all ok.
I got race filters to go on it and also am getting it Dyno tuned, but before I do this I want to make sure the unit is ok, lets say not faulty. When I connect it to my laptop all good, reads the values etc, maps go in and out as you like.
Is it a matter of just getting it set up on the Dyno???

    Has anyone had similar issues...???

Just don't want to get it booked for the dyno to be told unit is caput...

    Cheers

    Ric

  2. Have you tried a "zero map"? This effectively removes any tweaks to the fuelling, and if the PCIII is working at all, you will get whatever fuelling you would see without the PCIII.

If the bike still runs very badly with the zero map loaded, you can be pretty sure that your PCIII is fried. Last chance gasp would be to load the latest firmware onto the PCIII and retry. Firmware is available from the PC site.

    That's it, that's all I know! Good luck :)

  3. I have one on my 999. It came fitted and works really well, so I haven't messed with it.
I did notice though that there appear to be controls on the unit itself.
Can't help wondering if these might mess up your map somehow?

  4. You cannot accidentally "use" those controls, there's a bit of a song & dance required before they will change your fuelling.
Best thing to do is don't touch them, and use a laptop, etc or a professional fixer-doer guy to change the map :)

  6. Cheers guys,
I will give this a try again and see.
Hopefully didn't get a dodgy unit.
    Cheers
